‘The Dawnlands Catch’ by Sam Audley

Maria Ruiz’s instincts tell her that IT billionaire Randall Hawke isn’t to be trusted. But what catch could there be in his charitable setting up of companies for three young entrepreneurs...?

This business thriller introduces us to FBI agent Maria Ruiz, and her determined quest to bring Hawke down, no matter how important he is. The book moves between Maria and the people involved with Hawke: two of the young entrepreneurs, Tim and John, who gradually realise there’s a deadly purpose behind Hawke’s generosity; Hawke’s childhood friend, now his lawyer, Joe George; and Joe’s friend Snowy, who sympathises with Joe and Hawke’s motives, but fears the consequences. The novel begins with a kidnapping and murder, and events rapidly escalate to a good body-count. The FBI and business scenes are convincingly done, with Ruiz and her colleagues balancing the need to act with the need for solid proof.

A business thriller with an unusual motive behind the skulduggery.
